Container desiccants
Desiccants have hydroscopic properties, allowing them to soak up water vapour from the surrounding air to prevent moisture from condensing. Our container desiccants are expertly designed to help to control moisture generation in a shipping container during transport. Conditions within a shipping container can vary from above 50°C to below 0°C on a single voyage. In these extreme temperature variations, any moisture trapped within the container air will condense and vaporise, having a potentially devastating effect on shipments. This phenomenon is known as ‘container rain’ or ‘cargo sweat’.
